A Cool, Calm Day in Paris
Bonjour mes amis,
We have the sense that Paris is less crowded, more calm and certainly much cooler than a week ago! June must be the busiest month! It was cool enough to wear a sweater most of the day and certainly cool enough last night to get up and close the window and turn off the fans. Not complaining!!
Thanks for all your encouragement about my vertigo. It was some better yesterday! Our lunch at Voyage in Le Samaritaine was most enjoyable. With Bernie’s hearing loss, a quiet place is refreshing. We highly recommend this as an out-of-the-way spot.

On Line 7 back to our apartment, we went through the subway station Pont-Neuf La Monnaie. When you’re in Paris the next time, save a day to investigate the beautiful subway stations because they are all different! It is a trademark of Le Metro and unlike anything in the world. This will give you quite a nice history of Paris. Pick a rainy day and go for it. No cost, just time. I’m sure there’s a website with all the best choices. You’ll see everything from overtones of La Louvre to Jules Vernes’s submarine to The Rights of Man on Line 12 at Concorde. Amazing how art dribbles down into everything in Paris.
Last night’s walk around the area brought us this lovely bouquet of artistic elegance.
Today, we’re off to find the new hotel Saxe with a rooftop bar.
A bientôt

Linda,
It’s certainly nice to sense an uplifting and lighter situation all around for you and Bernie. I love the picturesque food you and Bernie select. Cooler temps and smaller crowds make for more enjoyable outings. I hope your vertigo continues to improve.

I’m happy to hear you are feeling better and the weather is cooler! I was just watching the BBC. They reported there were 2,300 deaths in Europe caused by the recent heat wave. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather in Germany as we are crossing the pond next Monday.

Safe travels! Hopefully, it will stay reasonably cool!

You know where they framed up the large coins and then allowed the coins and colored circles to flow on out to the subway tunnel. The folks in Paris don’t seem to miss a chance to make something interesting or artistic (?). Just something novel to look at, take in, or be momentarily entertained by. Doesn’t have to be great. Is there a name for that condition or trait that you know of? Other than graffiti on train boxcars, I know that we are spontaneous like that.

Maybe it’s just having a spark of the divine. I always am intrigued by your comments!
