Another Quiet Lunch on a Gorgeous Day
Bonjour,
One of our favorite museums that you’ve probably never heard of is Jacque-Mart André on Boulevard Haussmann in the 8th. Inside the museum is a gorgeous tearoom famous for its pastry display.
We dedicate this post to our dear friends from London, Malcolm and Antonia, whom we didn’t get to connect with this trip. Our friendship began oh so many years ago on this very patio. Moi being moi, I overheard their English and said, “Excuse me, are you American?” The rest is history and we have been friends ever since. That has to have been at least 10 years ago. They eat here on their anniversary!
The tearoom has now become a Salon de Thé which may mean some changes. The only thing we noticed was that they have incorporated the courtyard as part of the dining room with chairs resembling la Plage. And the name of the tearoom is now Le Nélie with much longer hours and live music in the evenings. I hope they haven’t commercialized a very special spot.

As is part of our tradition, we walked along Boulevard Haussmann up to Au Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette, thinking that perhaps the masses were fewer in Paris. Au contraire! Still mobs of folks out shopping.

Dinner last evening was at a new spot for us Chez Madamoiselle on rue Charlemagne with local friends. Delightful food, great company, small, quaint and the best Mousse au Chocolate that I’ve ever had. Sorry forgot the photos!
All next week, I will be working on a final blog to sum up our trip talking about the good, the bad and some of the changes we have experienced. We leave sadly, not knowing what the future holds. But then, that’s always true!
A bientôt

Not only the hat of the day, but her dress with the eyes and mouths! What a find! When a wonderful vacation gets near the end, it’s always bittersweet, but we know you’ll collect the memories, sum up this year’s story, and make lemonade from whatever lemons there were. Thanks for sharing.
