Dazzling Multi-Media Shows in Paris
Bonjour mes amis,
Many of you have probably been to see the Van Gogh art extravaganza which is playing now in Huntsville. If not, I hope you will. It’s a concept which has captured the world, and it started about 8 years ago in Paris in a not-so-well-known area of the 11th arrondissement.
I read about it one summer and was intrigued especially when we found out that it was in the neighborhood where Bernie was born. The presentation hall is an old factory with concrete floors and obstructions which bisect the presentation area, all of which add a certain charm. Here’s a little about that history.
The venue is the former Plichon Iron Factory established in 1835. Included in the main hall is a chimney, drying tower, a pool and water tank. It’s a great repurposing of an old building, something the French do so very well. There are 140 video projectors and 50 speakers with 3300 square meters of projection surface including the walls and floors. The main area is 10 meters high. The music is luscious classical and glorious, and it is quite dark inside, which adds to the ambiance. Surprisingly, the exhibit here in Huntsville is much more expensive than in Paris which is only 16 euros for adults and 11 euros for children.
The very first presentation which we saw was the best highlighting Klimt and featuring “The Woman in Gold.”
Van Gogh Many of my photos have gotten deleted to free up space.
Dali
Gaudi featuring much of La Sagrada Familia
The beautiful component of these exhibits is that for one price you can stay as long as you wish. The Parisians bring their pillows and literally lie down in the immersion.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these, alas maybe too many photos. It’s hard to choose. Bernie and I are leaving for a family reunion in Destin and I will be taking a blogging break.
Enjoy le weekend!

Yes, we have seen them all. So much better than what they present here in the States.
