Enjoying Our Parisian Friends
Bonjour,
Our late wake-up yesterday was not disastrous, and we met our friend Hannah right on time at a restaurant in the sky, Le Ciel de Paris, which is on top of Tour Montparnasse. They provide “le petit dejeuner”or breakfast Monday to Friday. We were on the Metro at rush hour which is a bit challenging and our route required lots of walking on moving sidewalks. By the evening we had 8,000 steps. This is part of why I love Paris so much because all the walking is wonderful for our bodies. The French maintain slim physiques that we don’t see anymore in the USA.
We visited with Hannah for almost two hours and thanked her for treating us to something we had not done before. We have spent several evenings at this restaurant for fireworks on Bastille Day in July, but had never seen the Eiffel Tower so early in the morning.

Our breakfast was also lunch because we ate heartedly. Bernie nestled in for a log nap and I took to the streets to do a little shopping and to say hello to our dear neighbor, Chantal. While in her building which was our home for ten or 11 years, I also got to see the two children, now 18 and 14, who we watched grow up. They both remembered and it was such fun to see them again… Alice and Celestin. Then walking along St. Antoine, I ran into Vincent who is Richard Nahem’s partner of 48 years!! He’s a dear and we will have dinner with them before we leave.
I also said hello to the hairdresser below our old apartment. We remember when he opened his shop. The connections we’ve made are dear to us and part of why we so love to come every year. We are greeted often by the proprietors in stores and restaurants and made to feel so welcome.
Here’s some additional fun photos of Natalie’s London trip. They arrive tonight, and they are not across the street from us but actually in our building! Truly amazing. It was not at all intentional. They arrive at 7 on the Eurostar so more fun sagas to continue.
Have a great day,
L & B

Linda,
What fun pictures of Natalie and her family! It’s wonderful they all came together. And to discover they are in your same building, what a treat! Thanks for the clear views from the Eiffel Tower. I can only imagine that reconnecting with the friends you’ve made in Paris over the years is a highlight of your trip.

Off to a great start, so glad! Haven’t seen Natalie since the wedding (at least that I can remember!), so please say hi!

I love all the friendships you have made over the years! You really have a foot in both countries and you two are ambassadors for the US at a time we need some!

Natalie wins the hat of the day for sure. I don’t know how you select your lodging, but sounds like Natalie hasn’t fallen far from your tree.

I think it’s such a treasure the “home of connections” you’ve built up here. It delights me so much…and I remain thankful for being invited to open my heart up to its wonder as well!!
