Hot Weather Moves Into Paris
Bonjour,
One has to be tough to take the heat in Paris without any air-conditioning. We’ve done it for so many years that it doesn’t bother us like it would other casual visitors. We’ve discovered that keeping our windows closed to the heat and allowing our fans to circulate the cooler air inside is the secret…if indeed there is one. Today’s high is supposed to be 90. We will dress in light clothes and be sparse with our activities.
Yesterday’s highlight was a lunch with our friend Hannah to introduce her to James and Andrew at Cafe de L’Homme in the Trocadero. It’s a beautiful spot directly in front of the Eiffel Tower which looms massive.

Though we had every intention of eating on the patio, I could tell that the heat was going to be too much for everyone; we moved inside after about 8 minutes which made our time together much more pleasant. Hannah shared her experiences about moving to Paris, both positive and challenging. It was very candid and helpful for the guys. Lunch there is definitely pricey.

After several intense hours of conversation, we parted ways and strolled all downhill along Woodrow Wilson Avenue to the spot where Princess Diana was killed. There is a beautiful statue of George Washington along this route and always more photos of the tower.
We passed on anything for dinner except for an apricot crepe about 7:30 to enjoy the beautiful evening.
Does anyone know what these little symbols are? They are all over Paris.
Send cool vibes our way, mon amis!

Linda,
Hoping the weather gives you and the rest of Paris a break. Here we are in for rain for the foreseeable future. However Bob and I are headed for Michigan today to see family and friends. We’ve planned a stop in Indianapolis to watch Caitlyn Clark’s women pro basketball team play. She might still be out on an injury though. Oh well, what can you do. Sunday with be at our son’s in Kalamazoo, Mi. Wishing you cooler temperatures today.

Those mosaics are by the graffiti artist Space Invader. He is now very famous and has them all over the world, but more in Paris. We went to a retrospective of his works a couple of years ago when we were there near Place Republic. You can get an app on your phone where you can locate them like a game. There is a bigger Daffy Duck on a building leading up to Place Contrescarpe, but I can’t remember which street. You may have know all this and have been asking others. My grandchildren have loved spotting them. One of my close Parisian friends gave me a necklace with a SI design as she thought it was so typical of Paris.

Very nice balconies with very nice buildings attached to them. If you’re able, I’d like to hear what blue Art is. I see man and woman, arm in arm, with 2 hearts.

Pat, very creative thinking! I didn’t know it was space invaders but thought it was a bit more of that “genre” ha! We spotted a few while there but had no idea!! I’ll have to share with Carson!
