Saying Good-Bye to Montmartre
Bonjour,
Yesterday, despite a few raindrops and a monster of a bad cold for me, we said farewell to my favorite place in Paris…Montmartre. We chose to avoid the weekend because of the crowds. Nostalgic, sad, but full of memories and joy all at the same time.

On the way home, we once again enjoyed the musicians playing in front of the St. Paul church. There’s been someone almost every day, a pianist, a violinist and today both a violinist and a cellist. They are all fantastic and have earned some generous euros from me. I refuse to give to beggars but to those providing a service, I am always eager to respond.
We had dinner with a beloved neighbor, Chantal and will bid a final farewell on Sunday evening at her apartment. Friends now for about 16 years!
I’ll be making my final post on Sunday morning with a heavy heart.
Bonne weekend,
L & B

What a lovely way to end your trip. The pictures of people, businesses and interesting surroundings resurrects fond memories. Love the “ hat of the day” photos. Hoping your cold gets better and better.

I would like to know the history of the wisteria. Was it already there, did it sprout during construction and become a pet, was it planted, or did it come up through a crack. Did the person that’s responsible for it have a vision of what it would become and how it’s being used. I’ll give you a break and not ask a bunch of questions about the rooftop plants. Have a nice trip home. You’ve got me trained to always notice the chairs. Thanks for the tour. It’s been fun.

I understand your nostalgia tour of your favorite spots! Keep them coming! As for that wall art, I think it is a new one, because i seem to recognize that wall with something else on it in the past. Hope your cold is better!

So sorry your last days are with a cold, ugh. Montmartre…one of my fav places too. If tourists do Paris “too fast” they miss the point of Paris (likely true for anywhere I suppose). I am beyond grateful for my tour guides and seeing Paris through you both. Such a treasure. I hate leaving Montmartre though I recommend enjoying as much of Paris at night as during the day! Hope you’re better soon & please hug Chantal for me!! Friends across the globe!
