The All-Time Favorite…Cafe Chairs of Paris
Bonjour mes amis,
We understand from several folks that Paris is “okay” but crowded, and full of construction. Not all subway lines are functional. First-time visitors won’t know the difference, but I’m thinking that we would. Well anyway, our decision not to go is made, and we are looking forward to our December/January visit. It does feel odd to be here this time of year and not there. If you hear some wistfulness in my tone, you would be correct.
As many who follow this blog are aware, I often do a theme. The absolute favorite set of theme photos ever were the cafe chairs. Here’s a fun look back through time. They are everywhere and if you don’t know, they are quite expensive, especially the Maison Drucker. This company has been in business since 1885 and are the chairs are “meticulously crafted by skilled artisans” according to their web site. There is a little metal placard on the back of each chair which defines the manufacturer.
The photo at the top of the blog was a winner one year and was actually taken by Peggy Bilbro!
It’s eye candy and so much fun to look for all the different varieties.
Hope you are having a good June. We’ve been spoiled with good weather but think we’re about to pay the price!!
A bientôt

In any movie that I see whose location is in Paris, I check out the chair/tables (and sidewalks, and cobblestone streets, and light posts, and newspaper stands, etc. etc.). But the chairs first. Thank you

The chair photos were always great fun, but I don’t think most of them look very comfortable. Maybe that’s the point– don’t linger!

Because of you I’ve become attuned to the chairs of the bistros. In April when there I saw so many new designs.
