The Time for Cherries in Paris
Bonjour mes amis,
Life is always so funny, mais oui? We had to leave the apartment by 8:45 this morning to meet our friend Hannah for a special brunch. (More on that tomorrow) Instead of waking up at 4 or even 5am, I slept until 7:10! Bernie and I were in fast gear trying to get up and ready for our appointment. There was no time to get out a blog for sure! We had a long journey by subway, but we made it. Fun photos for tomorrow’s blog.
Yesterday was truly the “time for cherries in Paris.” Les Temps des Cerises” is a delightful little restaurant down the street from our apartment in the area of the Marais where King Henri IV had cherry orchards. It’s on a tiny little street called rue du Petit-Musc. For years. I misread this as Music, only to discover that the area was prone to prostitution. Thus the pun on the musky (musc) smell as one strolled the street!
The restaurant is in a tiny house from the 1830’s, absolutely delightful on the inside. You’ll never just run across this so search it out if you visit. It’s been featured in “Emily in Paris.” The food and service are top-notch and very affordable. If you hate tiny spaces, you probably won’t be enamored with the interior, but they do have two patios. It was a little too cool yesterday for outside seating.

During the afternoon, we couldn’t resist the real cherries looking ripe and delicious at the fruit stands.
We had a few errands to run in the afternoon in pursuit of a new stylus for Bernie and a new purse for me. We ended up in the Beauboug area around Le Centre Pompidou museum. We met our friend Richard Nahem for coffee later on. He’s now making jewelry and Bernie bought my third piece.

I found some hat photos to share and have decided to take a friend’s advice and use both hats and windows (balconies) as a theme. Hope you enjoy our walking around .
We hadn’t seen the Stravinsky fountain (above) for probably a dozen years. They repaired it for the Olympics and wonderful to see it working again. It’s a whimsical public fountain with sixteen works of sculpture, moving and squirting water representing the works of Igor Stravinsky. It was created in 1983.

And now for a few hats, the first of which I took by reversing my camera lens.
Paris is a photographer’s delight as there is always a photo to be enjoyed if you keep your camera charged and ready!
A bientôt

I have never seen the wonderfully whimsical Stravinsky Fountain. Thank you! We will definitely search it out along with Les Temps des Cerises on our next visit. Love your photos!

Love the reversed hat photo! Was the second one a bachelorette party bride? I can’t make out what it says across her tiara.
Love your adventures. Hugs to you and Bernie.

I’m not sure about the party bride. She wasn’t dressed up except for the tiara.

Linda,
So many wonderful places to enjoy. The restaurant, Les Temps des Cerises, sounded and looked inviting. I’ll take cozy any day. The Stravinsky Fountain and accompanying sculptures were delightful. I can’t wait to check out the jewelry site. Thanks for sharing all the interesting places and their highlights!

I think I understood the last paragraph at Speaker’s Corner, but it took a few tries. I’m glad that you caught the use of the broken tiles — right up my alley. Didn’t you tell me once that Parians are very private. You’re going to get beat up taking sneaky pictures like that (reversing your lens). It was good though — the lady reminded my of Lauren Bacall.
