Too Hot to Do Much of Anything
Bonjour mes amis,
The highlight of our day yesterday was a manicure and pedicure for me which is always interesting. Two hours and 99 euros for both which is about what I would pay in the States. The gals did a good job but none spoke much English and all were from Viet Nam.
The heat is so penetrating and doesn’t do well with these older bodies of ours. There’s never a time or place to cool off. I think with hotter, longer summers in Paris, we’ll see more and more air conditioning!
It was close to 90 degrees: too hot to sleep, too hot to cook, too hot to walk around. That means there are no photos to share. We did, however, find our own little Superman walking down the street.
Hopefully, things will cool down a bit and I can get back to a daily post. Prayers that we can hang on!! High today will be 92.
Tonight we are having a farewell dinner with Hannah at Le Grand Colbert so surely some good photos will come from that. I believe the restaurant is air conditioned.
Stay cool wherever you are,
L & B

That’s hot… and it is’t even August yet! Do stay cool. Our senior bodies aren’t as adaptable as they used to be.

We hope the heat wave breaks soon. We’re having it here, too, but are off next week to spend a few days at a friend’s lake house. Stay in the shade and drink plenty of water!

I looked back through your posts trying to find the comments by that reader that told of Parians always trying to convince themselves that they didn’t need or want A/C. I couldn’t find it, it was funny the way your reader put it. Looking back through your days over there, I did notice that one of your early days you both were wearing heavy winter coats and gloves. Do you put all your clothes in a suitcase, or do you ship it over via UPS, Fedex, or something similar? Must require some planning and experience

We always take seasonal appropriate clothing but one never knows. Too expensive to ship. Just stuff it all in suitcases. It does require a lot of thought and planning but I’m pretty much used to it now.

Welcome to summer. It is too hot here as well. Air conditioning made the South. Parisians may discover the benefits as well.
You and Bernie are my heroes. I am still amazed at the 20,000 steps. Take care in this heat.

Le Grand Colbert is our favourite as that’s where Malcolm took me after he proposed! Have fun xx
