Welcoming Family to Paris
Bonjour,
Yesterday was an early start for Bernie as he met his son James and his partner Andrew at Orly airport. They had a smooth flight on La Compagnie and arrived at their hotel around 10:30 to store their bags. We had a quick coffee and started walking which is the main activity in Paris. Andrew had lived before in NYC so he loves the walking. They were troopers, and we put in 10,000 steps by my phone in what was just a big circle starting with the beautiful l’Eglise St. Paul, St. Louis, across to the islands, then on to Notre Dame and back into Le Marais.
Room check-in at their hotel was mid-afternoon which is typical so we parted ways until dinner which was an inside meal at La Carette in La Place des Vosges. It was a perfect night for beouf Bourguignon!! I forgot my phone, alas. (It’s comical to get ready to head out anywhere because of the “stuff” one has to gather…glasses, gloves, hat, scarf, coat, subway pass and phone.) It was rainy and cold but Bernie managed to get a lovely photo outside of the 5-star hotel there called La Pavillon de la Reine. We said good night about 8:30 and I believe they kept walking!
Still no luck getting N.D. tickets but I will persist. I’ve discovered that early in the morning is when to get on the site. The rest of this week all tix are sold out for special masses held throughout the day.
Oh yes, this little guy epitomizes how we feel in trying to stay warm.
We greet Bernie’s cousins today, Pierre and Laurie, about noon for a few days of special time together. They live in Alsace. As the years tick by, we cherish every moment knowing it could be our last. More photos to come if I can remember to grab my phone!

Welcoming family and friends to Paris is yours and Bernie’s forte. I guess you’ll just have to get your warmth and sunshine from them. Looking forward to continuing to follow your adventures and anticipating a successful effort at securing tickets to Notre Dame.

Hello Linda,
The weather gods seem to have turned of the rain faucet for a few days. I read on Facebook by this person who went to ND later in the evening and walked in. No line and no ticket. Worth a try if you can’t get tickets.

I agree, Cindi! And gosh hopefully you can try the late night ND trick Bonnie shared…prob even more likely if it’s raining?? Jamie looks so good…eager to see your adventures along w P&L. Even though we haven’t met, their names and faces have become so familiar. We travel alongside you through our screens when not in person…this time of year I’m preferring it as I’m wrapped up snug in a cozy blanket, ha!

Just read again about people being successful in getting into ND. After the 6:00 pm mass by just getting in line and walking in without a ticket
Good luck

Thanks for this tip. Unfortunately, our day is packed and we aren’t available to be there tonight around 7 or 7:30. We’ll keep trying.
