A Tour through Vienna
Bonjour,
C’est dimanche à Paris...it’s Sunday in Paris and that means a quieter, slower day. Still hoping for some sunshine but it doesn’t look promising. The flooding Seine has been the topic of conversation and is having a profound, negative effect on the economy. The waters are receding but it will be days if not weeks before the area is back to normal.
Today, let’s discuss something a little happier…Vienna, Austria. It is a city known for its coffeehouses, connections to classical music, and its
beautiful, distinctive architecture. Much like Paris, I find Vienna charming. The famous lovely opera house was unfortunately closed on the particular day of our visit. The first time I visited Vienna was on 9-11. That was an unforgettable moment in time, to be sure.
I have long since forgotten all the commentary from our city tour but hopefully you will enjoy the pictures.
We struck out on our own for the afternoon, rode the subway, which was easy and very modern, and found the big city market. Here’s a few interesting pictures including some café chairs!
Tomorrow, we will try to do Budapest but we are having a round of company for a few days, Jan Smith and Tony Porter. More fun to come so stay tuned!
A tout à l’heure,
L & B

Linda; you have sold me on Vienna! I enjoyed all the photos and yes it reminds me of Paris, also, it is tragic that the floods is punishing the city this way. I hope the upcoming soccer event goes well. There was news coverage about it yesterday and the discussion about whether or not to cancel.
It is hot and steamy in Alabama — already feels like mid July. I look forward to the next round of photos and reports. Jeanie

It’s a soggy Sunday morning in Alabama and I am just catching up on your blog with a nice cup of coffee. Your words and Bernie’s pictures are fantastic. I love the cafe chair adventures! Jack and Tyler enjoyed the Eiffel Tower photos very much! So sorry the weather is not cooperating along with the flooding devastation. You seem to be finding the highlights even in the rain. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish today/tomorrow!

Linda…..how different this time in Vienna! We were all traumatized that day in Vienna when we got the news of NYC and 9/11! You may remember that we went on to Prague and then were fortunate to get a flight home two days later! Happily, your visit to Vienna was much better this time. It is a lovely city and has a special feeling about it just as Paris does. Bernie’s pics are excellent!
The flooding Seine has been so bad in Paris. Hopefully that is over with. Just watched Djokovic win the French Open! Hope better weather is headed your way!

When I visited Vienna, I had 2 remind myself that the beautiful pastries were not nearly as good as they looked!
