Bienvenue à Paris!
Bonjour mes amis,
It’s almost summertime and for us that means Paris! This is our twenty-second year, and we hope to share the next two months with you.
Our travel day on Friday was less than the best with a 3-hour delay out of Huntsville because of a mechanical problem. Ugh! The rest of the day we were chasing our tail, rushing to make the next leg of the journey. AND WE DID. But not without a few annoying hiccoughs. We were truly blessed with the Atlanta to Newark connection. As the flight attendant said, “You guys are living right, because this will never happen again in a million years.” We came into Hartsfield at Gate 9 and took off for Newark at Gate 11 right across the terminal. We had ten minutes to make that change. Otherwise, we would have missed that flight, then missed La Compagnie which we fly to Paris. Since they don’t fly every day, who knows when we might have arrived.
Then we discovered our Delta flight into Newark landed at Terminal A, not B. Thanks to two extremely nice YOUNGER guys who helped us with very heavy luggage negotiate a frantic shuttle ride to switch terminals and make the flight for Paris. After all of our concerns, Newark ended up being a nothing burger with almost empty security lines where we have stood for hours in the past.
For sure, we were two tired puppies!! Our apartment was in fine shape and we are now officially unpacked but with some upside down body clocks for a few days. One thing is painfully real: we’re not as young and spry as we used to be but we keep moving forward.
It just a 12-hour period in Paris, we saw very cool temps (57 degrees), cloudy skies, rain, then sunshine, and much nicer temps by evening…warm enough to sit outside for dinner.
My daughter and her family left also on Friday for London and it was fun to coordinate our travel day. They will be in Paris with us on the 28th.
Thanks for coming along for yet another summer. No theme this year unless you suggest one, and then we’ll do our best!
Here’s a few street scenes along our neighborhood route. It’s delightful to see a rejuvenated rue St. Paul with quaint interesting shops opening up. And of course, always the gorgeous flowers.

A bientôt

I was afraid last year was the end of an era so I am very glad to to hear you are back in Paris for the summer. My daughter and 3 granddaughters flew into London on Friday as well and will head home Wednesday. I am looking forward to the adventures of Bernie and Linda once more and am sure you will enjoy having Natalie and family join you for a few days. Paris is always a good idea!

Paris is always a good idea – love that, Talitha! Yes, I agree and was glad for the invite…this time we went all out and brought the whole fam! It was neat that our travel days coordinated…we were both in taxis headed to our respective “homes” of London and Paris even! Hated mom & Bernie’s travels were so rocky…ours were quite pleasant except no sleep on the flight over this time really. We’re getting acclimated and enjoying a new across the pond adventure in London! Be careful, extra mindful with your steps and soak up Paris you too…so excited to join you soon!!

Congratulations on your miraculous flight connections!!
The stress of missing your flight in Newark must have been a realnail biter. So happy it all worked out.
Enjoy the visit with your family and have a marvelous two months.
Bonne santé !

I was thrilled to see your name pop up in my email feed. They’re back I proclaimed to myself. Good for them. As someone in her 80’s and planning another Paris visit in October, I applauded your tenacity. The sirens of Paris keep calling don’t they! I will read with relish your adventures,Linda. And enjoy Bernie along side you every day. As for slowing down a bit, just go with the flow and rest as needed.
How about looking for interesting signs on stores, boutiques, and buildings as a theme for this year?

So glad you made it! We are making the trip tonight..in Atlanta now…and look forward to arriving tomorrow around noon. Have our two grandchildren, 19 and 23, making their first trip to Paris. I told them how I met you in 2011 in Huntsville before making my first trip and you were very helpful. We are staying in an apartment near the Rodin museum and hope to get over to your area too! So excited to make new memories.

So happy you both made it safely!!! Your stars are lined up to have made all of your flights and I am so glad you did. Hooray for the help of the young men with the luggage… their mothers would be proud. Your apartment view is lovely this year. Thank you for sharing the details of your travels…I love traveling vicariously with you! How about “Paris pets” for this year’s theme? Cats, dogs, anything!

We’ve already done a year of dogs which was hugely popular. I think I’ve decided on windows and balconies. Glad you’re along for the ride.
