Bienvenue à Paris
Bonjour,
We welcomed Bernie’s cousins yesterday, Pierre & Laurie, who arrived by train at Gare de Lyon. What began as a nice cool day ended up very hot in the upper 80’s. I had a great shot of them coming down the voie or track. A man jumped right in front of my camera at just the right second. You can barely see Laurie’s head and a hint of Pierre’s red shirt.
We had warned them of how busy Paris is and they saw for themselves. Laurie commented about our here-to-fore quiet subway station at St. Paul as they were trying to get new Metro tickets. Everything now is Navigo card only, no more paper tickets.
We had a nice lunch around La Place de Vosges with this delightful carpaccio des annannas or pineapple for dessert.

Then we were off to a magnificent exhibit at Musee Quai Branly on gold threads, Au fil de L’Or. I know, it might sound ho-hum but it was exquisite. Much of the commentary ended up blurry (vertigo, I suppose) but the photos capture the grandeur of the history of gold threads.
I am so rushed this morning and no time for editing photos but I hope you get a small sense of how fabulous the exhibit was. Here’s some additional info from the web site.

Today is another busy, hot one!

The exhibition looks fabulous! I still want you to see the one at the Louvre. One thing I love about Paris is the availability of amazing exhibitions all over the city. I still want to go to the Resistance Museum in the 14th.

Good to see all of you back together again. The pictures of the use of the gold thread is impressive, I’m sure it is in person. Thank you.

Thank you, once again, for sharing. The exhibit is fascinating! No worries about a blurry photo or two, as they are still readable.
I had vertigo once a few years ago and I hope I never have to experience that again. Kudos for your fortitude and continuing fighting through it! Hoping that it goes away soon!
