Great Weather, Great Friends, Great Food
Bonjour,
This is how we love Paris: warm, breezy and daylight until almost 11pm. Just doesn’t get much better than that! We are enjoying our tiny apartment with the great view of our courtyard and the “lift” which is so much easier (at this age) than the 34 steps we used to have plus 16 more to the second bedroom! It’s a good fit for us though 90 degrees is forecasted later in the week. We’ll see how we do with our two fans! They are doubles so they generate a surprising amount of air.

Yesterday was mostly spent with our friend Carolyn Barnabo whose apartment is in Passy, very near the Trocadero and Eiffel Tower. Our visit to the Australian embassy was a bit disappointing as the exhibit Carolyn wanted to show us was mostly “finished” as the Parisians say. It was about female Australian artists and photographers and the title was “Through our Eyes.” There were a few remnants remaining which we enjoyed.
Our walk across the Bir Hakeem bridge up to Passy reminded us that this bridge is frequently used by brides, many of whom are Asian, for their pre-wedding photos. There were none yesterday but there was an interesting fashion shoot.
The Passy neighborhood is a residential, quiet area with everything you need tucked on top of a steep hill. Carolyn was kind enough to show us her apartment (which she loves) and even offered a glass of champagne before lunch.
I was terrible about taking photos because I got engrossed in conversation but here are a few.

Lunch was at a classic French restaurant and Carolyn suggested a beef filet which was quite good. We had such a good visit. She lost her dear husband, Clive, several years ago whom we knew. Grief is a difficult journey, “one day at a time” as she says.
Rest is more a necessary part of our day during the late afternoon and then dinner with the guys at a quaint, tiny little Israeli restaurant called Tavline on rue du Roi de Sicile.
If you want a gastronomic delight, try this little spot. Unfortunately, the service was VERY slow. We finally said our goodbyes about 9:45 and left James and Andrew to wait for their dessert.
It is a breath of fresh air to be somewhat away from the politics dividing our country. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself but do pray for peace and harmony.
Have a great day,
L & B

Happy to hear you all are slowing your pace a tad bit. Looks like you still had a nice time with friends and family and as usual, good food. Take care of yourselves. Love, Cindi

So glad you got to catch up with Carolyn Barnabo! She has dealt with life’s difficulties with grace. Your dinner looks delicious. Slow service is kind of the European way of dining. We often find there is plenty of time between courses for another glass or two of wine!

Oh we understand about slow dining but this was over-the-top, even for Paris.

As always it was *wonderful* to see you, L&B, my two favourite Paris energiser bunnies. You are truly an inspiration with your energy and positive outlook and beautiful partnership. I treasure your friendship and thank you for helping me know the joy of ‘getting back out there’ nearly 17 months after Clive’s death. À bientôt with love and prayers to you both for the rest of your time in Paris this year and every day xx

Ohhhh what exactly was in Andrew’s dish?? And the second one looked yummy too! Already missing quality food options…that’s a big reason I’ve become more excited about crossing the pond!

That restaurant food looks delicious! I’m sure I’d gain 25 pounds in 2 months! Better that I “eat” via u and Bernie!
