A Hot Shopping Day in Paris Which Ends Hopefully
Bonjour mes amis,
It’s Tuesday in Paris under slightly cloudy skies with a forecast high of 83 degrees, cooler than yesterday. It has been sticky and sweltering with little relief when air conditioning is not available. Even the locals suffer and tend to stay inside.
We did receive some very good news later in the day from the airlines. Supposedly, they located my bag and routed it through Copenhagen to Charles de Gaulle here in Paris. It hopefully arrived mid-afternoon, but we still have no word about delivery. We gave them our Paris address which is not marked and represents an entire apartment building so… We have alerted local merchants and neighbors around us that someone might be looking for a place to deliver a suitcase. Hopefully, we won’t miss it. They are supposed to call, but that sometimes doesn’t work. I’m holding my breath and ever hopeful!!
We went shopping late morning to Les Galleries Lafayette, the most lovely and renown department store in the heart of Paris. It was looking like rain so we abandoned the plan to eat on top and instead chose the lovely Angelina’s tearoom on the first floor, strategically located next to all the designer labels. It’s much better than the noisy, crowded food court on the sixth floor.
In regard for all the new members on the blog, here are some internal photos of the stained glass dome of the department store as well as some of the interesting displays.
The real treat at this store is on the very top where you can take in the entire city of Paris from the roof. It actually didn’t rain so we were able to get some nice shots and one video with my iPhone.

If you come to Paris, Les Galleries Lafayette is a must-see adventure. I think they have ramped up their air-conditioning as it was cooler there on the inside than I’ve had found it before!
My favorite “street scene” shots are actually from the Metro where you can see just about anything. When people visit us, they are always so worried about what to bring, fashion-wise. This surely will convince you that anything goes!
We are meeting some new English friends today for lunch at a never-visited spot…Cafe Fleurues near Jardin Luxembourg. We understand they have the best Croque Monsieur in Paris!
Wish me luck today as I try to find out if and when I’ll get my suitcase returned!
Bonne journée,

May the suitcase saga end happily! Really nice photos, especially the one of the perfectly framed dome, and the one of that attractive young model in the new garden area.

Merci to all comments. Unfortunately, no suitcase yet, not even the phonecall arranging delivery. Air France is having “technical issues.”

Despite the heat and the uncertainty of the return of your suitcase, you have managed to share some lovely photo shots and certainly brightened my day.

Capturing scandalous pics now, mom?! 🤣 What did you purchase?? I see a shopping bag…do tell 🤗. The top of the opera house is like the polished treasure amongst a skyline of tarnished runners up – beautiful!

I lost my very special umbrella that Bernie gave me for Christmas last year and he bought me another one. Not a very “scandalous” purchase!

Linda, I remember so well our trips to the G.L. and when you took me to the roof top and also to the tearoom. I still love my white leather jacket that I purchased there in 2012. Tres chic this season! You looked great in that shot on the roof! Of course you are in all white. I hope the suitcase arrives as promised! Jeanie

Here’s hoping the luggage arrives! All in good time. Thrive Alabama (AKA AIDS Action coalition) is holding a Kinky Boots Ball next winter. Those boots with bling you posted would be perfect 😉 though perhaps a bit cher!
