Just a Walk Around the Neighborhood
Bonjour,
Yesterday’s weather was spectacular with temps in the low 70’s with a constant breeze. (Absolutely, no rain in sight. It has rained only twice since we’ve been here). Definitely, not a day to sit inside our tiny apartment. It started with laundry and changing our bed which is still one of the hardest things I do. I have to laugh my way through it as it never gets easier for me. Such a simple function made to be so complicated. We always stop in at Les Temps des Ceries for a coffee while we wait for the clothes to dry. We shared a croissant, the first I’ve had since we arrived!
Our attempt to see the exhibit at L’Hotel de Ville after lunch was foiled again even though we rode the bus. There is a huge concert planned and everything is on hold until Monday in that area, including the Metro. We hadn’t ridden the bus in a while and that’s always interesting. We much prefer the Metro though it is heavy on the up and down steps.
We walked around the Beaubourg area near Centre Pompidou Musée which in a word is a bit “seedy” for my tastes but we always find something interesting. We sat for about an hour and a half just enjoying the cool weather without a lot of people around. This cafe was my very first introduction some 17 or 18 years ago to a Cafe Gourmand. It is next to the Stravinsky fountain.
Enjoy our stroll.

Today is another calm, easy day and we’ll see what adventures it brings!

So glad you’re getting some cooler weather and time to stroll. It makes me smile to see some English words, like “cakepop.” Happy Independence (from a King) Day!

I was out pretty early this morning taking a walk and I smelled someone cooking outside. I thought it was very early to start. Then I realized it’s the 4th of July. Happy 4TH and thanks for another interesting post. I wonder if these courtyards that you show act as kind of a chimney. Creating a little breeze in the courtyard. Again, thanks and have a nice day.

So glad you got some relief from the heat. Can’t imagine going night after night without AC. Now about the weight I gained drooling over the pastry photos today….

Linda,
Despite the laundry chores, it seems that you had a relaxing day, in different surroundings. I enjoyed your photos. Hope the weather will stay on the cooler side for you.

Thank you for the graffiti pic! Sounds like a delightful day of people watching, even with the laundry tasks. Hope the weather stays mild for you. We are happy to be home after our terrible travel experience.

It gets more and more difficult as far as travel is concerned. We had lunch on rue Cler the other day and thought of you guys. Richard told us that Charlotte had sold her house to one of her boys and had moved back to the States I believe. I can’t remember!

what wonderful pictures.. love these! And all the desserts look so yummy.
Im glad the weather has gotten cooler, youre lucky to have it at 70s,, We are in the 80s here, not as pleasant but soooo much better than 100!
While I lived in the metro, it was certainly a fast way to get around and easy to connect, I loved buses, I loved to watch Paris from the bus, which of course you. cant do in the Metro. but both systems are good there. once again, love your pictures. Enjoy!
