Sights to Savor on a Saturday in Paris
Bonsoir,
The weather is next to perfect, the streets are jammed with happy shoppers walking down the middle of busy streets. (I just love how they do that.) One can feel le joie de vivre. In our area of the Marais, there are more locals than tourists so it’s a great place to experience daily life of Parisians. That’s partly why we return to the same apartment each year.
For example, our morning started out with two guys carrying a bed ahead of two gals carrying the mattresses right down our busy street. Bernie named the caption immediately as “Moving Day in Paris.” Don’t you just love it?
We should get brownie points for trying to snap some more shots of Fashion Week. After a careful search of the web, I finally found information about what was happening today, and it was centered in the Palais Royale.
We made our way early, ate lunch and got a confimration from our waitress that yes, indeed this was the place for Le Semaine de Mode. We walked for two hours trying to spot anything interesting. Alas, it just didn’t happen but we got some good shots of this and that, including some very Parisian fashion in the windows as well as in and around the Palais Royale and Le Gallerie
Vivienne. There was a suspicious road that was blocked off behind Le Palais with a large gentleman in a black suit monitoring who got in or out. I believe he was there for a reason; Bernie didn’t think so. At any rate, I told him that he didn’t make a good snoop.
We finally gave up and went back to the apartment. Bernie rested; I tried to shop. It is so difficult for me but I did practice my French and managed to find a pair of snazzy jeans. I got roped into a demonstration of a new hand softening product by a young gal whom I’m sure was doing her best to close a sale. Unfortunately, I had to tell her no as nicely as I could. I am familiar now with which shops suit my fancy but it is still very difficult and takes a fair amount of guts to get out alone and go for it.
Hope you are having a great weekend. I’m missing the Ryder Cup which I hate. Go USA!

You should be happy you’re missing the Ryder Cup. The US is once again, not doing well. I love your adventuresome spirit. You and Bernie always find the most interesting places and photo worthy people and places.
