Weather Was No Deterrent to Sunday Fun in Paris
Bonjour mes amis,
Five years ago, we celebrated Bernie’s 75th birthday in the fall, and the weather was totally different – mild, beautiful, and mostly sunny. I remember wearing basically my summer wardrobe until the very last of October leading into the first week of November when we departed. The weather this time has been a surprise. I wore a summer dress on the first day we were here on September 15, and since then it’s been a fall wardrobe. Yesterday, I wore a wool scarf!
But we haven’t let the weather deter us.
Yesterday, we started our day by attending the American Cathedral of Paris, high Episcopalian with a female rector, gorgeous organ and talented choir. I’ve posted about this church before. It has a flag and needle-pointed prayer bench for every state in the Union.
On the walk to the church, we passed the Louis Vuitton store with already a long line to get in at 10:45! The windows had been designed to replicate Le George Pompidou Musée of modern art. We ducked into the George Cinq Hotel for a quick look at the flowers…always spectacular. We tried for lunch at Fouquet’s, the very famous celebrity restaurant on the Champs only to be told it was closed due to a private event. We ended up at the new Galeries Lafayette in the little café called Le Citron or The Lemon. Afterward, Cindi and I cruised the store (with prices too much to handle) while the guys took in the new Apple store, the Five Guys (!) and the fancy cars. Here’s some pictures mostly from Bob’s camera which tell the story of our day.
It was rainy and windy, then a few blue skies would appear. Kind of a crazy back and forth day. Back at the apartment, the Bilbros joined us for a glass of wine. It was their last day in Paris, and they are sad to leave as always.
Dinner was nearby and lo and behold, the Bilbro’s showed up with the friends they were meeting so we were able to get one more hug and wish them Bon Voyage.
Early to bed for me as I’ve been slightly under the weather but feeling much better now.
Today we are off to Montmartre and hoping for good weather!!!
Thanks again for all the blog comments and forgive my inability to respond to each of them. Just no time!!!!

The entire blog has been wonderful so much so that Chris wondered, “Think we could?” Perhaps we should continue to enjoy from afar, no way we could keep up with y’all!
