Closing the Window and Turning Off the Fan!
Bonjour,
Let’s all laugh together, shall we? It was 60 degrees this morning when we walked into the kitchen. Bernie immediately closed the big window to our courtyard and switched off the oscillating fan!
What a wonderful, cool, breezy day we had yesterday. So pleasant to be out walking around. We even went for a stroll along the river around 8pm. Amazing how weather drives our mood, our activities, our motivation. The tag line for this comment is don’t be fooled: the high today is 84! One can pretty much forget about what to wear.
I refuse to give into the vertigo which is plaguing me right now and so appreciate your comments. I may visit with a pharmacist here though I am already taking something for it. It’s a maddening condition as some of you have agreed. There’s often that dreaded comment, “Well, there’s not a whole lot we can do for it.”
One of my favorite stores in Paris is Le Bon Marché on the Left Bank. It’s never as busy as Les Galeries Lafayette but just as nice. Their food store or Grande Epicerie has one of our favorite lunch spots called La Table. We tried to beat the 1pm lunch-hour rush only to find a long line from a tour group. Fortunately, they had reservations and were processed very quickly. There’s hardly a spot in Paris anymore that doesn’t have a long line. The city remains jammed and boisterous no matter where you are. The heat makes it worse so at least, we had some mediation to that. Then you add in the screaming babies and some of the edge of pleasure gets blurred. I’m amazed at how young parents take their small children everywhere these days, something I never did. It doesn’t bother Bernie, but it does bother me! Oh, to be more like Bernie.
We’ll share some of meal with you and some of the internal shots of the store. I have almost convinced myself to buy a designer purse, something I’ve never done. But after flipping over a few of the price tags yesterday, I probably won’t!

Sorry these are out of order. Sometimes Word Press has a mind of its own!

After a very light dinner at Carette, we walked to the river and enjoyed the cool breeze. The sun at 8:15pm is piercing and creates that defining “light” for which Paris is so well-known. I must say that I believe the city is dirtier this year than ever before enhanced by the fact that we’ve had almost no rain since we’ve been here. By the way, it’s been one month, can you believe it with one month to go.
We’re preparing to greet Bernie’s beloved cousins today, Pierre & Laurie from Alsace. We’re off to Gare de Lyon!

Tour groups at La Table?! That is heresy! I always feel like it is a little oasis of peace from the hustle and bustle. Also, inquiring minds want to know what those price tags for the designer purses said. Amazing how fast the time goes when in Paris. Enjoy your remaining month!
