Enjoy Our Slow, Easy, Second Day in Paris
Bonjour,
It’s wonderful to have new folks following the blog this year plus all the Facebook friends. We love hearing from you so leave us a comment, s’il vous plaît. Some communicated that they were having difficulty with that so I contacted my webmaster last night, and hopefully the issue is fixed. Many of you got through so we know it’s not totally dysfunctional. I’m using an iPad and sometimes different devices don’t communicate well.
Yesterday was deliberately a slow and easy day. We were tired from travel, and both of us took a nap! I can count on one hand the times I’ve napped in my life so you know I was tired. The day was very warm initially but after a mid-afternoon rain, it cooled off into a pleasant evening.
We’re acclimating to some of the “joys” of Parisian living: such as no icemaker, no disposal, teeny tiny trash cans, no shower curtain, and of course, no air conditioning. It might sound horrible to you, but we have “fixes” for all of these inconveniences, and we move along. If you have visited us, you know that our kitchen is small and efficient, but I manage to prepare our daily meals with no problem. One can basically get used to anything.
We also took on a project to clean the WONDERFUL, comfy leather chairs in the living room. After now ten years, they were pretty dirty, given that the leather is white. It worked out very well, and Bernie is relaxing in his favorite spot!
Lunch was at a delightful small restaurant called Le Petit Celestin which is just around the corner from us along the river. They have a new chef, and neighbors highly recommended we try it. Bernie had the Tartare de Beouf (raw steak) which has to be the “Purely Paris” photo of the day. The meat was cut instead of ground and delicious by his tastebuds. Ugh!
While we were eating, the mounted police came by for our dining entertainment. The French call them La Garde Republicaine.
Our evening was topped off by joining our dear friend, Richard Nahem for a visit and drink. He does the wonderful blog EYEPREFERPARIS which many of you subscribe to. We also said hello to our other neighbor across the hall from us, Chantal. This means we have made the rounds to everyone in our little area. So much fun!
We promise a group picture soon of all of Bernie’s drinking buddies down below us. They are a motley crew.
By the way, if you click on the pictures, they will enlarge for better viewing.
We’re off on a much cooler day to find our copy of “Where Paris” magazine full of the latest and greatest for the summer.
Have a great day,
Linda & Bernie

We’re following you day by day, and enjoying everything! Our kitchen is about the size of yours there, so we know how it can work. Here’s to another wonderful summer in Paris. Tell President Macron bonjour for us when you see him.

As to the naps, Charles said, “You know how to live!” He naps daily, regardless of the day’s routine.😏

Is this the same apartment we had the chance meeting with you? Bernie was just returning from market and we were checking out apartments? Sure miss Paris, so you blog helps feed our fix!

You spend your first day in Paris cleaning chairs…OMG…did Bernie run out and wash the sidewalk first thing? How about those stairs…..

As much as I love medium rare, that rare wad of meat looks awful! However, the arugula mix looks fabulous! Great pictures to start you off this year, and I’m totally with you on cleaning that chair! 👏

Glad you’re settled so quickly. I remember taking a great nap in that chair, or is there another like it?
How do I go back to yesterday’s blog post
Hope today is another great day.

Bernie, your picture of the houseboats is making me drool! A leisurely stroll would be so nice!
Please give Richard a big hug for me….I have not seen him for some time now, but always depend on him
to give my clients great tours in Paris.
