Paris Perfect Day

Bonsoir mes amis,

Paris weather is absolutely beautiful, and according to the locals, making up for their August which was untypically cool and rainy!  How lucky we are to benefit from this quirk of events.  The leaves are starting to change, the days are shorter, and the chestnuts are EVERYWHERE, big lovely chestnuts.  If you’re not careful, they will bonk you on the head!  Autumn is definitely here but defying the weather gods.

This morning we did a much more thorough grocery shopping escapade, then made a picnic lunch and headed off to Le Jardin du Luxembourg on the Left Bank.  Our lunch was a little cheese, French bread, wine, fruit, chocolate and some chips we bought for Charles which we thought were Cheetos.  Oops, they ended up being “strange” and not so tasty.  The pigeons enjoyed them.  We sat near the Medici fountain in the shade by the huge statue of Poseidon.  It’s a lovely spot and where we took our “selfie” for the lead photo.

We walked around the area including St. Sulpice church (featured in the DI VINCI CODE), St. Germain des Pres, (the very lovely shopping boulevard) and a stop at Les Deux Maggots for ice cream (where Fitzgerald and Hemingway enjoyed autumn together many years ago).

I was not feeling well so took a taxi back to the apartment while Charles, Judy and Bernie bit off a big chunk of late-in-the-day activiites.  They walked to Sainte- Chapelle noted for its exquisite stained glass windows and then were off for a ride up to the top of the Eiffel Tower.  Charles is quite the photographer and wanted both day and night photos at the Tower.  They did not return to the apartment until almost 11pm.

Hopefully, tomorrow I will be back up to full speed.
